Who are your friends?

Who are your true friends? There will be countless people who float in and out of our lives, but who have stayed long enough to earn the title of friend. I shared with our teens last week that we needed more words for friend. In the same way the english language is too broad in its definition of love, so to is our definition for friend. Although, we may not have a clear denotative way to determine a friend, we certainly know. Our heart knows.

Perhaps, it is because we need more than just words. We need songs like the one above from Toy Story that emote friendship. We would do well to recognize our friends and acknowledge them as such. Today, consider who your friends are, and let them know.

“Be courteous to all, but intimate with few, and let those few be well tried before you give them your confidence.” George Washington
